A conversation with Chester Brown
How Chester Brown, a critically acclaimed Canadian cartoonist, discovered that the AquaCure can improve your well-being... if you let it.
“Hi guys,
I got my AquaCure machine back in the summer (2021). I’ve been regularly drinking the infused water and breathing the gas. I can’t say that I’ve noticed any significant boost to my general well-being, but I was pretty healthy already.
There has, however, been at least one notable change. I’d had some sort of skin problem on my right foot for a few years. I can’t remember exactly when it started, but I’d had it since at least early 2019. I never had the problem diagnosed, so I don’t know what it was, but it started off small and was growing in size. (See the ‘before’ photos below to get a sense of how large it was at its worst.)
When I got the AquaCure machine, I was wondering if it would have an effect on this foot problem. There was no noticeable benefit for the foot from simply drinking the infused water and breathing the gas. So, in maybe early August I started applying the gas directly to the problem area of the foot for about an hour a day. (I didn’t take note of the exact date.)
By early September, I thought that maybe the foot condition was fading, although I couldn’t be sure. It was at this point that it occurred to me that I should take some photos for the sake of comparison. Please again see below the ‘before’ photos, which were taken on September 5th. (This means that the same photos probably don’t show the problem at its worst. I wish I’d thought to take photos before I began using the machine.)
Over the course of the next few months, as I continued to apply the gas directly to the foot, the skin problem just faded away. The ‘after’ photos below were taken on November 29th and, as you can see, the problem has either completely or almost completely disappeared. The difference is remarkable.
There has maybe been one other possible benefit from the gas. When I first got the machine, I was having pain in a specific tooth on the left side when I ate. Let me emphasize: I experienced the pain only when I ate, so I stopped chewing on the left side and only chewed on the right.
When I got the AquaCure machine, I began applying the gas directly to the tooth and did so for a few weeks. On July 28th I had an appointment with my dentist to have the tooth looked at. He took some X-rays and couldn’t see a problem.
He asked me to bite down on a piece of cloth to mimic chewing
on food — there was no pain. Then he had me bite down hard on some wooden swizzle-sticks — there was still no pain. I was a little embarrassed — I’d booked the appointment to have this supposedly painful tooth looked at and now it wasn’t painful.
Because I hadn’t been chewing on that tooth for several weeks, I don’t know when the problem would have disappeared. I didn’t tell the dentist about using the AquaCure gas. He suggested that I get a CT scan done of the tooth to have it looked at in more detail. Because the pain was gone, I opted to do nothing. Four months later, the tooth still feels fine.
At the time, I hadn’t read the instruction book as carefully as I should have. It was only after the appointment with the dentist that I noticed that the gas should only be breathed nasally through the cannulas. So I’m not sure that you would recommend applying the gas directly
to a tooth inside the mouth. You can let me know if that was an improper use of the machine.
Anyway, having that foot problem disappear has convinced me that the machine works, so I continue to drink the infused water and breathe the gas. You can count me as a satisfied customer.
Thanks for making these machines. And thank you also for answering the questions which I had in two phone calls.”

A Grand Canyon-sized ‘WOW’ was our crew’s first reactionafter Chester’s testimonial landed in our inbox.
The second reaction was: “Our customers, friends, and fans need a bit more of this wonderful experience and person.”
And that’s why our founder, Ryan Chorneyko, reached out to Chester for a quick interview. The following is the condensed version of their discussion.
Ryan: Chester, everyone at Pureffect was so moved by your testimonial. Thank you again for sharing your story!
The turning point in your experience with the AquaCure machine was when you started applying the gas directly to your tooth, and then later your foot. Exactly what made you consider applying the gas from the AquaCure directly to your foot?
Chester: I watched the video on your website where George Wiseman explains to a customer how to set up the machine. During the video, Wiseman mentions that the gas can clear up scars, and one of his employees confirms that this is true and that he’d been applying it to a scar on his arm using an arm- length rubber glove. So it seemed possible that the gas might do something for the problem on my foot if I applied it directly.
Ryan: How did you apply gas to your foot? Did you use the leg beg we include with every purchase, or?
Chester: Perhaps I somehow misplaced the leg bag, but I don’t remember finding one in the boxes you guys sent me. I put a small plastic bag over the upper half of my foot and ran the ‘long tube’ from the water-bubbler jar to the plastic bag, which I held in place with a rubber band.
Ryan: You mentioned that, at first, you hadn’t read our instruction manual carefully. Any suggestions/tips on how we could highlight or make top takeaways/how-tos for potential applications more obvious and user-friendly? For example, should we have a section on our website called ‘Top ways to use your AquaCure’?
Chester: This is a tough one. Most people nowadays seem so inclined to ignore printed instruction booklets that it’s probably impossible to get people to fully read the booklet right away — I know I was eager to just get the machine operating immediately upon opening the boxes. The last thing I wanted to do was sit down and fully read that booklet. And even if I had, I wouldn’t have been able to take in all of its information.
My advice to new users would be to read enough to get your machine up and running, and then (after using it for a week or so), to sit down and fully read the manual. At that point you’ll probably be in a more receptive state-of-mind to comprehend the mistakes you’re making or the mistakes you could make.
For example, for too long I was leaving the water in the humidifier — I wasn’t switching it out regularly, the way that one is supposed to. And when I did switch it out, I’d dump the ‘used’ water down the drain instead of into the machine (to recycle any lye that’s in the humidifier’s water). It’s such a small detail that I know I wouldn’t have taken it in or understood its importance, even if I had read about it before starting to use the machine.
Ryan: Sorry for not asking this sooner, but how did you first learn about the AquaCure?
Chester: The late Colin Wilson is one of my favourite writers.
In a few of his books, he wrote about the unusual properties of Brown’s Gas. (For instance, in ‘Atlantis And The Kingdom Of The Neanderthals’, published in 2006, there’s a section on the subject from pages 44 to 55.)
I also listen to occasional episodes of Greg Carlwood’s podcast ‘The Higherside Chats’. Back in May of 2021, I noticed that one of them was titled ‘George Wiseman, Brown’s Gas, AquaCure, & Suppressed Science’. (See https://www.thehighersidechats.com/george- wiseman-browns-gas-aquacure-suppressed-science/.)
I had no idea who George Wiseman was, but I remembered what Colin Wilson had written about Brown’s Gas (maybe because
my last name is Brown). So, intrigued, I listened to the episode. I wasn’t sure what to make of Wiseman’s claims about the AquaCure machine. On the one hand the claims sounded a little too-good-to- be-true. On the other hand, what I’d read in Wilson’s books inclined me to think that maybe Wiseman’s claims could be true. After deliberating for several weeks, I decided to take a chance and buy a machine.
Ryan: Which of the following reasons made you buy your AquaCure from us?
- a. Because we make it in Canada.
- b. Because we offer the most ways to get customer support (i.e. we
- offer toll-free support, our email inbox is always open, you can
- reach us via our FB page and Google profile, etc.)? c. Because of our testimonials.
- d. Combination of the above.
- e. Other — please elaborate.
Chester: After making the decision to buy a machine, I followed a link on the Higherside Chats website, which took me to Wiseman’s website and (if I remember correctly) that website provided me with a link to your Pureffect website. I assumed that, by dealing with a Canadian company, I could avoid the hassles and expenses of cross-border shipping.
Your customer support did play a small part in my decision — before placing my order I phoned your customer service line to ask a few questions, and the fact that you, Ryan, called back with answers did make me more confident about placing the order.
Ryan: Is there something I didn’t ask you about the AquaCure that you’d like to mention?
Chester: This isn’t at all important, but George Wiseman is rebranding Brown’s Gas as ‘HydrOxy’. Since the gas is a blending of hydrogen and oxygen, I can see how that makes sense. But since I found out about it under the name Brown’s Gas, I’d suggest that you don’t entirely abandon that name. There might be others who’ve heard of Brown’s Gas and have no idea what HydrOxy is.
Ryan: Great point & thank you, Chester!
